Memórias do COVID-19: Uma pesquisa guiada pela prática sobre os efeitos do bloqueio na perspectiva de um estudante chinês

Este artigo apresenta um projeto de design conduzido pela prática que pergunta como os efeitos do bloqueio podem ser articulados por meio de ilustração e poesia para narrar uma história pessoal usando uma abordagem autoetnográfica para altos níveis de dignidade e originalidade no varejo. O projeto de pesquisa visa criar uma narrativa visual, avançada por meio de ilustrações e poesia, que reflita a experiência do pesquisador com os bloqueios impostos pelo COVID-19. A narrativa adota a forma de um livro de histórias ilustrado para contar a história da própria pesquisadora, que enfrentou experiências restritivas ao ficar trancada na China durante uma visita à pátria. Como resultado, o pesquisador não pôde retornar à Nova Zelândia devido a restrições de viagem. Durante o tempo que a pesquisadora teve que esperar na China para poder retornar para concluir seu estudo na Nova Zelândia, o bloqueio produziu sentimentos de isolamento, distanciamento, ansiedade e outras emoções. Este projeto de design visa expressar esses sentimentos, respondendo às suas pressões usando ilustrações e poemas criativos, criados de forma a articular as pressões psicológicas pelas quais uma pessoa pode passar durante esse período sem precedentes. As ilustrações e poemas encapsulam uma resposta artística a um momento histórico, elaborado por meio de escrita e imagens poéticas. O projeto é um documento histórico de uma época em que tudo que é certo se torna incerto. As ilustrações são usadas através de uma abordagem autoetnográfica para dar voz a experiências pessoais através do design. A pesquisa contribui para a exploração da escrita e ilustração poética para documentar, compreender e expressar um momento de crise na história da humanidade.
