Abstract

This research has an exploratory characteristic, aimed to investigate whether
the new digital technologies (specially microtomography and 3D printing) potentializes the approaches of thinking and designing packaging through analogies between biology and design (Biomimicry). This research was held in two experiments who applied the biomimetic based thinking approach “Biology to Design” (Biomimicry 3.8, 2007). Experiment A, without the use of new technologies and Experiment B, with the use of new digital technologies. In the end, thanks to the exploratory and experimental process, supported
by the use of new digital technologies enhancing Biomimietics, an innovative
concept for packaging design was achieved.
