In the last few decades, a number of new collaborative research and learning contexts have proliferated. Citizen Science is a way of producing knowledge, which consists of the voluntary participation of individuals, who generally do not have scientific training, in the collection, categorization, transcription and / or analysis of scientific data. Design Thinking, in turn, is a powerful, effective and accessible innovation approach, which can be used by individuals and teams, in numerous situations, with the aim of generating and implementing innovative ideas that have an impact. Therefore, the objective of this article is to promote a reflection on the similarities between these two approaches and to discuss how Design Thinking can contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of Citizen Science projects, based on an exploratory bibliographic research.
