Historical and technical concepts of open innovation - A systematic review

Open Innovation, Product Design, Co-Creation


Due to the growth in the implementation of Open Innovation in the com­petitive market and in Product Design, it is necessary to understand more about this practice, so this article aims to identify the Historical Evolution of Open Innovation - how it emerged and what were the factors that culminated in its existence - and which models currently guide its application, this through a Systematic Review in the Scopus and DOAJ databases. With a portfolio of 20 articles related to the topic, bibliometric and content analyzes were performed. We found 35 historical terms that guided the research of classic readings for the generation of an infographic with the historical trace of Open Innovation, in addition to 31 collaborative models theoretical­ly and empirically explored by the analyzed authors. This research allowed us to un­derstand the methods of Open Innovation and its importance, in addition to providing the incentive for future studies involving Product Design and Co-creation.

Mestranda do Programa de Pós-graduação em Design pela Universidade Federal do Amazonas, e possui graduação em Design pela mesma Universidade. Atualmente é professora substituta no Departamento de Design e Expressão Gráfica pela UFAM.

Franciane da Silva Falcão, Universidade Federal do Amazonas

Doutora em Design na linha de pesquisa de Ergonomia (2015) e mestra em Design pela UNESP (2007) e graduação em Desenho Industrial pela UFAM (2001).  Atualmente é Professora no departamento de Design e Expressão Gráfica e no Mestrado Profissional de Design.

Augusto César Barreto Rocha, Universidade Federal do Amazonas

Doutor em Engenharia de Transportes pela UFRJ (2009), possui mestrado em Engenharia de Produção pela UFSC (2002) e graduação em Processamento de Dados pela UFAM (1998). Atualmente é Professor Associado com docência na graduação, Mestrado e Doutorado.
