Abstract

Lydia Francisconi is a writer, now deceased, a former intern at the São Pedro Psychiatric Hospital of Porto Alegre, who, from 2006 to 2009, participated in a Creativity Workshop offered there. It was in this workshop that his words flourished and began to be heard. In 2010, his scattered writings were brought together and became a book that received the title "O Sol que gira". The prevailing idea among us is that in a psychiatric hospital there are only disorders and anomalies from which we must stay away. But where there seems to be only silence, there are a multitude of sights and sounds that resist annihilation, and which may or may not leave the confinement space. Lydia invents out, lives alone in a very small flat. In this article, we will try to activate a sensitive listening to Lydia’s writings, underlining the uses and deviations that she practiced in her literary exercise. She seemed to be aware that the experience of writing was not only a work of transformation of herself, but the possibility of creating for herself a territory of existence.
