Abstract

This article aims to discuss the use of augmented reality (AR) technologies in artistic interventions in urban spaces (site-specific public ARt), highlighting their potential in enabling large-scale public interventions, perhaps even materially im- practical ones, offering great artistic freedom to artists, considering the potential for creating three-dimensional virtual objects, expanding artistic engagement in activ- ist actions in contemporary art, and finally, questioning the institutional limits of art, insofar as it enables artistic actions that, through their insertion in public areas, question the status of conventional art institutions themselves, such as museums and galleries, or even the art system itself. Based on this framework, an analysis of the works discussed is proposed, drawing on the considerations of Bourriaud and Cancli- ni regarding the concepts of reprogramming and imminence, respectively.

Marcelo Bressanin é artista sonoro, graduado e mestre em História pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas - Unicamp, mestre pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Mídia e Tecnolo- gia - PPGMIT Faac Unesp - Bauru, no qual atualmente cursa o doutorado. Pesquisador no Grupo de Pesquisa la- bIMAGEM - Laboratório de Estudos da Imagem (CNPq). O presente trabalho foi realizado com apoio da Coordena- ção de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - Brasil (CAPES).

Regilene Sarzi-Ribeiro tem Pós-doutorado em Poéticas e Culturas nas Humanidades Digitais pela UFG (2022) e Pós-doutorado em Artes pelo IA/ UNESP (2013). Doutora em Comunicação e Semiótica pela PUC/SP (2012). Professora visitante no Doutoramento em Média-Arte Digital da Universidade Aberta (UAb) e Universidade do Algarve (UAlg) de Portugal. Membro da Red de Investigación de la Imagen (Portugal, Espanha, Reino Unido, Austrália, França e Argentina). Docente RDIDP da Faculdade de Arquitetura, Artes, Comunicação e Design, UNESP. Coordenadora do PPG em Mídia e Tecnologia - MP (Quadriênio 2021-2025) e Vice-coordenadora do PPGMIT (2025- 2029). Líder do Grupo de Pesquisa la-bIMAGEM - Laboratório de Estudos da Imagem (CNPq).
